Sphere Search Engine For Blogosphere
Published by karl May 2nd, 2006 in PR, microbrands, micromarketingFunny, after my post about the Blogosphere being spherical I just heard about a new blog search engine called “Sphere“.
More interesting than the name though, this search engine is a product of a collaboration between a VC, a design company, and the business founder. The design company is Adaptive Path, who are leaders in the field of user experience design, who have quietly formed a partnership with a VC. Very similar to the “incubator” concept during the .com explosion.
It does have some interesting features in that you can view a “profile” of a blog before you visit, it outlines how many links are incoming and outgoing, and provides some data on the average length of posts and number of links per post.
It’s easy to submit a blog to the search engine, and I just submitted customersonfire.com, but I have no idea how long it takes or what process is involved in getting a blog listed. When I did a search for micromarketing though, my other, more well established blog experiencecurve.com was the first result. Interesting.

I did a search for “marketing” and wasn’t too thrilled with the results, they were all “search engine marketing” blogs. Not a scientific test, but leads me to believe they are using a similar “link popularity” algorithm like google. I guess those “search engine marketing” blogs know a thing or two about link popularity, damn you SEM blog
